Uninstall MountainGrowl
Hi there!
After updating to Growl 2.0 (and despite the fact that Growl has disabled MountainGrowl), notifications still appears under the Growl title (with the appropriate subtitle).
How could I uninstall to avoid this behaviour?
The wrong icon problem in Growl 2.0 is not related to MountainGrowl (which is completely deactivated in growl 2.0) it's a problem with the way Growl 2 handles notifications. If the growl.framework inside the app is to old growl itself simply shows the notification center message thus showing the wrong icon. If the app uses an new growl.framework (version 2.0) growl relays the notification back to the framework inside the app which then shows the notification and so using the right icon, because for the notification center it looks like the app itself send the notification.
The fastes way to fix this is trying to update the growl framework inside the apps. You can use the "Growl Version Detective" for this http://growl.info/downloads
The other possibility is using Bark http://barkplug.in/index.html
@Belelros To uninstall MountainGrowl you simply have to delete the file from ~/Library/Application Support/Growl/Plugins
. If you upgraded to Growl 2 they might be inside the sandbox in ~/Library/Containers/com.Growl.GrowlHelperApp/Data/Library/Application Support/Growl/Plugins
(quite a long path, isn't it?). Just copy those paths and paste them in the Finder goto dialog (cmd+shift+g).
Growl 2 makes MountainGrowl kind of obsolete. It offers the same Notification Center integration MountainGrowl has to offer. (MountainGrowl was only meant to be there for the transition period until Growl 2).
But did you check out Bark? It's a Growl (Growl 2 compatible) plugin that also uses the correct application icons in the notifications. It's highly recommended! (It uses some private API and therefore will never be on the AppStore or in the official Growl build).
