Share screen gives new ID each time

Hi, When a user has a link with ID:user1, and share their screen, they get an ID: user1screen_sSmJV However, when closed and re-opened, it gets the ID: guest1screen_4tny5

Which means including this share in OBS needs to be updated every time. So an option to set the share screen link to a fixed value would be great.

And my apologies if this is implemented, and I have missed it.

I guess I did that for security purposes, as when someone stops screensharing, someone else could secretly start sharing that to that unused stream ID. If you forgot to remove the view link from OBS after someone stopped sharing, it's possible a peer in the group could abuse things out of humor.

I have some ideas on how I can address that security issue, though haven't made the time to do so yet. I definitely see the need to fix this issue though.

Thanks for getting back to me, and I do understand your security consern.

Of course, that makes a lot of sense. And should by all means be the default setting.

A simple workaround, would be the ability to change the ID in the control center. Then the director can update the ID to the one configured in OBS. Might be some security implications I don't see by doing this.

@jsetsaas This has now been resolved by @steveseguin last week you can add &ssid for _screenshare and &ssid=whatever for _whatever as the suffix.

This is currently in the /beta channel.
