Telegram not showing avatar
I noticed that Telegram doesn't show the avatar of the members, but sometimes will show the avatar of the chat group. Also, the chat group name always shows as the members name. The members name shows inline with the comment.
Just wanted to let you know about it. Even with the current issues we love the ability to use this with Telegram, so thanks!
Telegram has been a bit challenging to support in full, but I'll make more effort to support it better over the coming weeks.
Thanks for the quick reply! No problem at all. I just appreciate all of the work you have put into this.
I get it that Telegram is a bit problematic at the moment.
But I noticed two things related to Telegram:
1. Versions of Online Web Telegram
Apparently there are two different versions of web Telegram and only one works right now.
The one that does work is at https://web.telegram.com/z
The one I found not working is https://web.telegram.com/k
2. Messages have the number and time in the Message Text
The messages are streamed to the message flow but they have a number and the time at the end of the message while also having the timestamp.
message text 1 16:28
The 1 16:28 part is not the message but some random stuff that got added.
The Number seems to be the "number of views" the message got and this number is only visible when streaming messages from a Telegram Channel.
Apparently when in a channel with multiple admins it can also happen that the name is added to the message end like this:
this is a message 9 Chris Spiegl 13:20
again this 9 Chris Spiegl 13:20 is the part not part of the message but rather the number of views on the message, the author of the message, and the time when it was sent.
3. Avatar
This was mentioned before, but I thought to include it here again as well. The Avatar is not showing for Telegram messages.
4. Works only when Visible
Not much of an issue just something I noticed working with it.
It seems that with the Telegram chat it is very important that it stays open and can not be in a background tab in the browser.
5. Security Risk : Pushing Messages on Chat Open
When switching between two chats the system automatically streams a set of messages. I don't know how many exactly.
But this is a) different from how it works with other services like YouTube where it only streams new messages which are coming in after opening the Pop Out window.
The reason why this is problematic is that you really have to be extremely careful which chat you open in the Telegram Web Chat.
Maybe just limiting the messages to ones that are received after the extension was started? Possibly having a way to limit the Telegram Chats that should be streamed in the settings?
Otherwise I found the Telegram does work and that's great! Thank you.
Until I can find a better security option, I'll make telegram and slack be like the discord option -- a menu switch will let you manually activate those sites, since they may be more sensitive than other sites.

Telegram is something more compatible with chat.overlay.ninja, where you specify individual messages, but I'll see if I can make this work still.
Thank you for the feedback ; I'll try to address the rest here as best I can.
Fixed some styling issues with telegram, including:
- an issue related to an "contextual primary image" and the new featured-chat overlay-offset changes.
- sizing of the "contextual primary image" in the dock page (made it slightly larger than an emoji now by default)
- removed the random numbers / timestamp that might have appeared before in messages
- added support for emojis
Issues that remain:
- the avatars are still of the channel, not the poster in the channel making a post.
- Multiple contextual images or videos are not supported; just the first primary image
- changing channels or scrolling up a lot in a telegram channel can trigger a wave of old messages to appear.
For security purposes, you still also need to toggle Telegram on when you want to use it. This isn't obvious to everyone, so at some point a toggle switch to telegram channels themselves could be useful.
