Paste and Keep Text Only Keyboard Shortcut Now Pastes in the Line Above
Title: Paste and Keep Text Only Keyboard Shortcut Now Pastes in the Line Above
Description: Since updating OneMore to Version 6.7.1, the behavior of the Paste and Keep Text Only keyboard shortcut (Ctrl+Shift+V) has changed. When the cursor is positioned at the end of a line, the clipboard text is pasted in the line above instead of at the cursor's location. This issue began immediately after updating OneMore.
Steps to Reproduce:
- Copy any text to the clipboard.
- Position the cursor at the end of a line or in the middle of a word or sentence on a OneNote page.
- Use the Paste and Keep Text Only keyboard shortcut (Ctrl+Shift+V).
Expected Behavior: The clipboard text should be pasted at the cursor's location, not in the line above.
Environment:
OneNote Version: Microsoft® OneNote® for Microsoft 365 MSO (Version 2412 Build 16.0.18324.20092) 64-bit OneMore Version: Version 6.7.1 with OneNote 16.0.18324.20194
Additional Context:
Demonstration:
Initially, I assumed the Paste and Keep Text Only shortcut was a Windows feature, as it works in other apps like Microsoft Teams and the New Outlook. However, I confirmed in the OneMore settings that it controls this shortcut in OneNote.
While attempting to paste formatted text as plain text using Ctrl+Shift+V, I encountered OneMore popups with error messages. Unfortunately, I did not capture screenshots and have not been able to reproduce the issue consistently. It appears to be related to the type of formatted content in the clipboard. If I gather more evidence, I will report it in a separate issue.
Attached is the OneMore.log file for further investigation. Thanks, as always, for your awesome work.
I'm also having this issue and it's been driving me nuts for months. I use this feature extensively and it's been a real bummer having to go back to the dark ages of right-clicking and choosing from context menu.
I had this problem in my Windows 10 installation and also in the brand new Windows 11 installation I just set up.
I am able to use PowerToys Advanced Paste shortcut WIN-CTRL-ALT-V to properly paste without formatting in OneNote, but that shortcut is much harder to use so I'm looking forward to this bug being squashed.
I've attached my log as well in case that helps.
I also want to add that I see the same behavior when inserting a code box. It goes to the previous line instead of where you put the cursor.
