Feature request: Control via command line/apple script

Are there any updates to this sort of function? I used to control Spotify using identifiers such as player state and "if paused, tell application to play" etc... Wondering if there's any way to automate functions like that. I use a stream deck and MidiPipe to use external applications to control music and I'd love to move to YT Music but that's holding me back
