Steam thinks it's closed when it minimizes

I'd love to use this, but something goes wrong: after I get to the screen that says to click to stream the desktop, and click, the program minimizes but Steam seems to think that it has exited -- it goes back to Big Picture Mode with normal controls. Am I doing something wrong? Do I need to invoke it a certain way?
