Talk shows not found because of shortened torrent names and date numbering

Open komakino opened this issue 10 years ago • 3 comments

Hi!

I have noticed two problems than concern mostly talk shows.

The first is that some talk shows have long official names like "The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon", but the common scene name is just "Jimmy Fallon" and all torrents are named just that. Since Pulsar uses the tvdb-title(which is the former) to send to providers, no torrents are ever found. This obviously is a problem with all shows where the name in tvdb differs from the common torrent naming, so not

The second problem is that lots of talkshows have episode numbering based on date, like 2015-03-02. Providers will search for something like S2015E30, so no torrents are ever found. Examples include Conan and Craig Ferguson.

So, what's the solution to this? I don't know, but i'm sure that the community can come up with a stable solution.

Almost no talk shows work with pulsar. I can't believe no one else is concerned about this. Am I doing something wrong?

+1 Same goes for some shows that their scene name is not like the tvdb title (Marvel's something something, Black-Ish/blackish, sunTrap etc). Or shows that tvdb has a different numbering than the scene release (for ex. American Dad). Does TVDB has a "search title" field i can't find? Can we employ a provider that will "translate" problematic titles?

Hey! I just made this: https://github.com/komakino/script.pulsar.torrentapi

It's a provider using torrentapi.org and it handles talk show torrent names.
