User reported issue - confirm link page just spins

Multiple users have reported that after clicking on the email verification link, the page just sits there and 'spins'. I have verified the issue with one of the links provided:

in the case of the link shared over a private channel, the token is invalid -- our error reporting should be better in this case, but to address this specific user's issue it looks like they've copied an incomplete or incorrect link.
