Link Dropdown behaviour

Open nathanstreetx opened this issue 1 year ago • 1 comments

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe. Since the update to version 27, external links don't go straight to the site when you click on them, instead they show a dropdown menu with the full hyperlink.

Describe the solution you'd like I understand the need for this when there are multiple links (i.e., A performer having two twitter account) however if there is only one link, I believe it should go straight to the website rather than dropping down.

Describe alternatives you've considered Another alternative would be to abandon the dropdown and have multiple link icons (For example, if a performer has two twitter pages, the twitter icon would be shown twice (one for each link)). Although I understand this could get messy quickly with anything under the generic links (although that could be resolved by minimizing the generic links (See: #5399))

People seemed to prefer it being consistent, so the follow-up was made to update it. See https://github.com/stashapp/stash/pull/5310 and the issue opened for it https://github.com/stashapp/stash/issues/5292.

I think the https://github.com/stashapp/stash/pull/5310 is regressive having used it a while, and agree with the OP. I think people may be split on this issue! I for one find any additional clicks really frustrating for this specific app.

The link icon should have dropdown behaviour sure - this collects all those unsorted links with no specific icons. A link to X or Instagram, unless the performer has multiple profiles, should link directly to those sites. This should hopefully be extended to include other favicons like the behaviour in StashDB. But absolutely clicking the X/Instagram link, only to have a drop down to click the actual link is super bad UX from my perspective.

These specific site links do not need to have consistency with the dropdown links, that is a distinct generic collection of links which should act differently to the others.
