[Feature] Import scenes from stash-box to stash

Open HilaryBanks opened this issue 1 year ago • 5 comments

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe. We can submit scenes from stash to stash-box, why not the other way around? Sometimes I browse stashdb and find a scene that I like but don't want to look for it and download it, it would be great if there was a button to add it straight to my stash.

Describe the solution you'd like A button that adds a scene from stash-box to my stash. Support for multiple scenes would also be great.

Stash boxes like StashDB are metadata providers for content you already have on your local stash instance. Stash boxes are not repositories for downloading the content.

For example, if you already have a scene on your local Stash instance - you can query StashDB to obtain the metadata for that scene: title, studio, scene date, performers, tags, etc. StashDB does not host the scene itself.

Thanx for the lesson but I still would like for the above to be implemented as a feature. Maybe it's something that isn't useful or doesn't make any sense to you but for me , it'll make my life easier by a ton.

If you are asking for an option to download metadata directly from StashDB to Stash, that is feasible but likely not something we would build directly into Stash. Something like that would be better suited as a plugin, and I think similar plugins already exist.

If you are asking for a way to download the copyrighted videos for free directly to your Stash, that is considered piracy, which we don't condone and would never implement. Aside from that, StashDB does not host video files, so there is nothing to download. It only hosts metadata similar to sites like IMDB.

Obviously I meant import scenes not the actual files, I guess I wasn't clear on that, apologies, Care to share some of these plugins? Because I haven't found anything that gives that functionality.

Thanks for clarifying. The wording of the original message did suggest otherwise. I recall Serechops working on a plugin to browse StashDb data directly within the Stash instance. The original post can be found here: https://discord.com/channels/559159668438728723/1196910630460985544/1200699870693036093. The post is almost two months old, so it may be worth following up with him about the progress. Aside from Serechops, I recall other users mentioning doing similar work, but I am currently unable to track down those posts.
