Closing animation lags, waiting for the scrim to disappear.

If you try to close the bottom sheet by flicking, it gets stuck in place half way, waits for the scrim effect to disappear and then closes all the way.

Environment: Expo

In the video, I'm using React Native Paper "Portal" component to get the sheet to overlay with the bottom nav bar, but removing that doesn't fix it.
