CPU overload and slow text entry

Open cuathro opened this issue 4 years ago • 5 comments

  1. In the latest version 3.9.10 (in the Plain Editor), in notes having 39758 words or 230968 characters, typing becomes too slow making the application unusable for adding information.

  2. I used the command $: top in the system terminal and the crash reaches 104% CPU usage.

Version in use: 3.9.10 Linux-x86_64 (AppImage) Operating System: Ubuntu 20.04

Can you try disabling spellcheck to see if that makes a difference?

I believe this overall issue started happening when we upgraded our Electron version to v16.

You are definitely right @moughxyz. By disabling the spell checker function there is no CPU overload and no slow typing. I remember that in version 3.8.21 there was no such problem, maybe it matches the version of Electron you mention.

As an extra fact about the problem: I had 3 languages enabled for the spell check function, which are the three I work with on a daily basis.

I have the same issue, however spell check is disabled and words are still underlined by spell check...

The spellcheck toggle only controls spellcheck in the plain editor. A note will be added under the toggle about this in an upcoming update.

Thanks for the info. Any plans on being able to disable it for other editors ?
