Missing Map Tiles In The UK At Close Zoom

I've found that at close zoom levels there appears to be missing map tiles.

At first I thought they just weren't loading in but it seems consistent which tiles are missing.

Same thing for me just about anywhere, though it seems to be slightly worse in Northern California.

This is our favorite basemap out there...so beautiful and lovely for our educational projects. If there's anyone out there with ideas for a fix we'd be so grateful!

I have the same kind of comment for Milan terrain tiles. Toner and Watercolor work properly though.

However before documenting the issue, I'd like to know if this is a bug, and therefore it is possibly going to be addressed, or if it is just a matter of (temporary) missing data.

I have the same issue throughout Japan: http://maps.stamen.com/terrain/#10/34.7264/132.7863 http://maps.stamen.com/terrain/#11/35.0112/134.1856 http://maps.stamen.com/terrain/#12/35.9793/140.1186 It seems this tile issue appears beyond zoom level 10. Same as other reporters, toner and watercolor work properly.
