Compare not loading points

The compare tool does not load data points either from search or from link from Explore.

Kai will sync from Berkeley version

Resolved this issue on http://studio.stamen.com/berkeley/show/compare/

All three layer types should load points now, and the codebase has been merged with berkeley-gif's updates
