GRANT BASICS
Grant Name: Stacks Claim Links V2
Total Budget: 25,000
Total Duration: 295
Grant Type: Open Source Dev Repeat Grantees
Grant Track: Stacks Developer Experience
Grant Goal: Strengthen Community
Grant Audience: End Users (Consumer)
Specific Audience: This was a difficult one to select as it targets end users as well as developers
Grant Team:
Previous Grants: https://grantsdashboard.stacks.org/dashboard/grants/512
Ecosystem Programs:
GRANT MISSION, IMPACT, RISKS & REFERENCE
Grant Mission: This application will allow users and organizations to onboard users to the stacks ecosystem. Offering sponsored STX claim links will allow users to create a wallet easily, get loaded with STX, and interact with their first dApp. I eventually see these supporting complete "care packages" that contain other tokens from the community (Slime, City Coin, Alex, etc.).
Grant Impact: This will be verifiable through the increased onboarding and interest in the stacks ecosystem. The goal is to lower the barrier of entry into the Stacks ecosystem.
Grant Risks: Our major risk at this stage is a technical exploit. I would like to work with firms and the community to test and have a full audit performed on the contract and application to ensure it's security and stability.
Support Link: Attached is a video demo of the current application.
GRANT ROADMAP & DELIVERABLES
MILESTONE 1:
Deliverable: Campaign customization, NFT Claim Links, Audit Support
FINAL DELIVERABLE
Deliverable: Extension to the existing app to support NFT links and campaign customization.
👋 @jhammond2012 Thanks for your application! We will do a pre-review and let you know if we have any immediate questions. In the mean time please refer to our review schedule here for a detailed timeline and response dates. Best, Will

A working version can be found here.
Remember that this is our staging env and we often deploy to test things. Also, you must have your wallet in TESTNET to use.
On Monday (Aug 22) I will be posting a 100 STX claim campaign. This will be shared on Twitter.
The first campaign launch can be found here: https://twitter.com/real_2n10se/status/1561742047274483714
Hi @jhammond2012 -
Thank you for your application. As the Grants Review Committee begins their reviews this week and next, we wanted to reach out and see if there is potential to rescope the size of your grant request. Given the projected outcomes of your project compared to cost and the competitive applications in this review batch, this grant is not likely to get approved at it's current size and deliverables. As of now, we have funding for 40-50% of the applications received. If you would still like to be considered in this round, we recommend rescoping your proposal to a lower amount that closer reflects the industry standard of $75/hr.
Lastly, when we kicked off the review cycle with the Review Committee we brought them up to speed on the top three objectives we are prioritizing for this cohort:
- Support grants that improve Stacks-Bitcoin integration.
- Support grants that improve the Clarity developer experience and attract new Clarity developers to Stacks.
- Support grants that improve the attractiveness of Stacks as a place to build for founders and attract founders to Stacks.
If you could, please comment here if you feel your project is consistent with one or more of these objectives and let us know how and why.
Thanks! Will
Hi @will-at-stacks !
Bring it down to $75/hr only brings the budget down to $22,125 which I am assuming would not bring the scope down to an appropriate amount to meet the criteria.
As for the points, I do not believe this application will attract developers directly but it will lower the barrier of entry for the end user using their applications. A good example of this is when I try to get a friend to check out Sigle or any other leading app built on stacks. They say, "Sure! How do I do that?". I have to instruct them to create a wallet, go to OK-Coin, buy 1-2 STX, wait 10 days, transfer to your wallet... THEN process some transactions. This is a process that takes entirely too long and in my experience does not have a large success/conversion rate. One solution to this is to run sponsored TXNs but this, for some reason, has not been adopted.the other solution is to provide a way to onboard new users by offering a 1 STX claim link. This STX token is not meant to be a HODL and get rich!!! But rather a, go explore the ecosystem and use this for the gas. In a future milestone, I see these being able to be blocked by a video or some other learning material. Then, the user can be educated before receiving the STX.
Removing the audit support would remove a bit of the budget. I added in some extra hours there as I am unsure exactly what that would cost. If we saved this for a future milestone/grant, I believe we can get the budget down to $15,000. Is this something that is closed to what you had in mind?
Hey @jhammond2012 !
Thanks for the feedback. Sounds like a very useful and low friction user path. I like it! Thanks for adjusting the scope / budget. Breaking out the audit helps a lot. Those things can be priced more accurately once there is code to bid from... I'll mark you down on this one for $15k and we will revisit the audit at a later date.
Regarding the Trajan application - since you are also involved with that one - and you can only have one form of funding active at any one time... Should you have both applications approved, which one would you like to proceed with?
@will-at-stacks If I had to choose, I would want to pursue Trajan
Hi @jhammond2012 -
We have identified the projects we will be awarding grants as part of Stacks Foundation Grants Program Cohort 18. I'm sorry to have to inform you that your project was not among those selected.
This is no way means that we do not see the value of the work you proposed. We're lucky to have so many talented independent researchers, developers, and community leaders like yourself building on Stacks. Unfortunately, we receive many more proposals than we can actually fund with our limited means, so competition is extremely tough. While we generally support innovation in all forms, we tend to prioritize projects that have the potential to advance and differentiate the broader ecosystem from other blockchains, as well as projects that meet critical needs of the community at the time. These constraints mean that in several instances, several excellent projects may not make it into a cohort.
We very much appreciate the time and effort you've put into this process and encourage you to continue watching this repo and consider submitting a new application if and when you feel your project better aligns with the current priorities of the Grants Program.
If you should have any questions, please let us know in the comment section below.
