@hstove is this expected since we don't distribute through the App Store or something else?

This is coming in from a user in support who has been sent a link to this issue to add to. I will add anything else in here that they send to support.

@yknl @hstove I know you guys are super busy right now, this is the issue we spoke about in slack, I will assign you guys so this can be prioritized when you have some availability.

This should only be happening on macOS Catalina. The upcoming authenticator shouldn't have this problem. The workaround in the mean time is to right click and choose open.

@ryanarndtcm would providing those instructions from @yknl work for customer support for the foreseeable future here?

markmhendrickson avatar Apr 27 '20 15:04 markmhendrickson

I think so yes. Notifications like that would make a big difference for sure. (same as for the usernames to be confirmed on browser as people expect it to be instantaneous, not take multiple confirmations on the blockchain).

Thanks!

@ryanarndtcm I'm not sure what you mean by notifications in this context? The guidance for opening the Mac app here is right clicking on the app icon and choosing open from the menu so the user can then opt to open despite Apple's warning that the app hasn't been vetted officially.

Sounds like its already takrn care of then. I wasnt sure if there was a way to preemptively let people know within the flow of app installatiob so that users would no longer need to email support should they get stuck.

Since the browser is soon to be updated, it may be for moot at this point anyway though.
