✨Feature request: add/show/fill the `omnibox` drop-down suggestions !

Open dnknn opened this issue 4 years ago • 2 comments

The last one nice feature request : Being able to maximize the omnibox function means that the user experience of this function can also be greatly improved! ^_^

Current behavior:

  • Only show 2 suggestions/tips.
  • Obviously, we can continue to play/imagine the remaining suggestions space of omnibox...... because...please see below 👇

For the remaining suggestions space of omnibox

  • The browser's default is up to 7 suggestions.
  • chrome://flags/#omnibox-ui-max-autocomplete-matches
Of course, we can also customize and expand more by flags 👆

✨ Expected behavior: therefore, we can use the remaining 5 (or more) suggestions:

It can realize that there are more real-time engine choices without the help of hotkey/omnibox-key !

About the remaining 5 (or more) omnibox suggestions, there are 2 feasible solutions:

  • 💡 The top 10 engines/items in the search engines manager are displayed/filled by default. (This scheme cannot be customized by users, but it can also display the top 10 items of the search engine manager by default.)

  • 💡 In the search engine manager, add a column of input[type=checkbox] to this feature. (This scheme can be customized by users.)

I’m not interested in that at all. I’m doing well without Omnibox. 😋

This is a bit awkward do with the mix of keywords, hotkeys, and engines with neither. I have something like this working now, with the engines listed being those with a hotkey or keyword.

I think this is what you're wanting, but as an omnibox user , you would know best.

I could pull from engines without a keyword / hotkey, but it might be messy
