Sink callbacks

As a new developer on SSB I learn about many workarounds as muxrpc doesn't yet support sink-callbacks. Wanting to check if the root cause could be solved rather than having multiple projects working around the limitation I only found an old issue #30 closed as stale.

Why is there less activity on this than the Stale-Bot tolerates? Is this conceptually a hard thing to implement?
