Adding Featured/cover image from external url

How can the featured/cover images of each posts added from an external url? To be more specific Batflat currently supports adding images from /uploads folder. But how can images from a cdn(like cloudinary) added as the same? Which would reduce bandwidth issues and slow loading on shared hosting.
