Problems with font colour

It seems to me that there are some problems with the font colours using the "monterail" theme on Windows 10, Thunderbird 52.2.1

The "calendar" and "tasks" tabs are barely visible and there is white text on white background in the search field. There is text written in the second picture.

Yep, i have the same behaviour on linux. I've also commented on "Wrong text color in search box #55" issue, which is closed but seems to be the same problem.

I can confirm this issue on Ubuntu 16.04 and Elementary OS. This is also a problem on the Preference tab titles.

I am also seeing this - Windows 10. Both the search field text and the preference/options tabs - text matches background colors.

PS: @klsgrtx may you confirm me that the option tabs is now visible?

@conema I incorporated your changes into my local install. The Option tabs and search text are now visible in the monterail theme.
