It's often good to have small input datasets for testing and minimal reproducible examples that run fast.
Anyone no of any such GTFS files? Thinking it would be idea to have one for SP the case study city.

Yes it definately makes sense to have a dataset that is small enough to save in the repo and also bake into the app for demo-ing purposes. I was also thinking of including some links to bigger example datasets which the app will download on request, maybe Exeter, Leeds, and ofcourse Sao Paulo? Is https://github.com/transitland/gtfs-archives-not-hosted-elsewhere/blob/master/sao-paulo-sptrans.zip the best source for Sau Paulo data? It was updated 4 months ago so seems like it might be up to date.
I haven't dug around for more up-to-date sources than https://www.transit.land/feeds, but I'm sure it's good enough. One thing you'll discover quickly is that shapes.csv is optional, and IIRC, it's missing for SP
