So my plan is to change freeze charging to use the reserve setting rather than the discharge rate in the hope that will work better, do you agree?

Can you share with me an automation to enable the freeze option, I could make this be a configuration setting to use it?

Do you have the car charging limit set to the right figure as a % e.g. 75?

If you turn off car charging smart it will just charge whenever the home battery charges. It's certainly a possible feature to have a single charge start time instead...
