Plan set to freeze export causing clipping

Open parklife200 opened this issue 9 months ago • 9 comments

Describe the bug Planned solar of 30 kWh, but a large slot of freeze export, which is pushing to the grid but battery is not charging and causing clipping

Expected behaviour I would expect this period to be set as freeze charge which would prioritise export but also allow the battery to charge if above the inverter capacity

Predbat version Main and also 8.16.7

Environment details Gen 3 GivEnergy 5kW Hybrid Givenergy 9.5kWh battery HAOS

The YAML you provided was different, it looked like this:

However if I disabled the freeze charge then I get to:

I'll look to see about the clipping issue next

Notice that the freeze charge has no impact, as no grid charging will occur in that time period as the battery already reaches target.

I also notice a period of zero load in your plan which implies you have a data source issue.

You have an inverter limit of 5000 and an export limit of 5000 A battery rate max of 3600

Your peak PV in this plan is 1.65 kWh at 14:00-14:30 which means a rate of 3.3kW which is below your inverter limit so doesn't indicate clipping.

Your chart posted above also doesn't indicate clipping, where do you see it?

Yes that YAML you showed was after I had forced freeze charge to remove the freeze export. The graph shows where it is being clipped due to that, and then it shorting up after a forcing a change manually.

No idea why I have blank data, first time I have seen that. Will keep an eye on that one.

The clipping was earlier from about 10.00am to 11.30am, the first peak you can then see it hovers around 5 dipping slightly, but then there is a large peak when I force a change around 11.30, no clipping after that point

I'd need the debug yaml from before the clipping to debug this further, please try to capture one another day

Whilst the forecast shows no clipping, the forecast 90% does show potential clipping. I have a large portion of freeze export today - maybe I don't understand, but what is the benefit over a freeze charge that could prevent clipping? Today my battery will be a high SOC so could get clipping regardless, but surely better to fill to 100% than prevent the battery charging?

Another instance which I thought would be useful to share

Good solar day and had been comfortably above 6kW since around 9.15. At 11am an hour of freeze export scheduled and at 11am this kicks in and PV gets limited to 5.3kW. Forced a freeze charge and back up over 6kW.

This appears to be same issue I already fixed with ticket 1206
