STS 4.9.0 Moving and Docking Views not working

Open schowgale opened this issue 4 years ago • 4 comments

Describe the bug If I want to move the location of debug view from default left navigation items to the bottom list of views, I cannot do the same. Basically, not able to move and dock the debug view to any place within the workspace.

To Reproduce

  • Rest the Perspective by clicking Window > Perspective > Rest Perspective.
  • After this action, the debug view is visible next to Project Explorer.
  • Now try to drag and dock the debug view to the bottom where the Console and Problems views are visible.

Sample

A link to a GitHub repository with a minimal, reproducible sample.

Reports that include a sample will take priority over reports that do not. At times, we may require a sample, so it is good to try and include a sample up front.

I tried to do exactly that and it seems to work just fine over here, so it doesn't seem to be a issue that appears everywhere. In order to find out where the problem is coming from, I would recommend to try:

  • does this happen with a fresh workspace using the same Spring Tools 4 for Eclipse install?
  • does this happen with a fresh Eclipse 2021-03 install?

And it would be useful to know which version you are using and on which operating system you are.

Thanks for the response, Martin.

I had a workspace developed using STS 4.6.0 and upgrade to STS 4.9.0. After the upgrade, I started getting this issue when the same workspace was used.

BTW, am using Oracle VirtualBox setup (Version 6.0.10 r132072 (Qt5.6.2)) with Ubuntu version is 16.04

I encounter the same issue with STS Version: 4.10.0.RELEASE Build Id: 202103111225

Still am not able to move and dock the views in STS 4 workarea.

@schowgale What about a plain Eclipse install (without any Spring Tools involved)? Does that work (using a fresh workspace)?

Any news on this question?
