Write access error

There are two errors I commonly get, write access errors (the entire folder has been chmod 777'd) and issues accessing certain dll's (most notably chargen.dll from the character sliders mod). I'm not sure why there's a read/write error, but if you have any ideas for how to handle this, they would be much appreciated.
