Uncaught Error: Could not find control by type: button[ rails (5.1.4) ]

I have updated my rails application from 3.2.2 to rails 5.1.4, gem stopped working. Here is what i am getting on console. I am getting this error on all related pages

@zia-qamar ever found the root cause? having the same issue here.

@edgarsilva do not add any lines in application.js file
