Plans to map CALIBER phenotypes to ontology terms?

Open smlmbrt opened this issue 3 years ago • 3 comments

Hi CALIBER team,

This is less an issue and more of a feature request - I was just wondering if there were any plans to extend the metadata about each CALIBER phenotyping algorithms with ontology terms? I was thinking Monarch Disease Ontology (MONDO) and/or Experimental Factor Ontology (EFO) terms may be helpful for those looking to find phenotyping algorithms by ontology mapping rather than manual trait/text matching.

Hi Sam, if we are to map then MONDO is the most likely ontology for me as it covers disease space well. EFO is interoperable with MONDO but is a less good fit. I'd like to hear from SAIL colleagues on if they have a mapping process in place, we can build one from my group if useful as well, best Helen

Agreed, MONDO seems like a good choice of linkage!

We do have a rudimentary map to EFO so we could cross-map with the GWAS catalogue so we could refine it to point to MONDO! Is there a good EFO to MONDO map or is this not worth exploring and a fresh map is required? Spirors
