Interested in a New Maintainer?

Just a follow up to some off topic discussion under #24. @spin83 are you still interested in maintaining this extension? There are quite a few users waiting for a formal update to Gnome 3.20, and there's been a pull request for it for the last 15 days.

If you are no longer interested in maintaining this extension, would you be willing to let someone else take over maintaining it? I'm not outright volunteering, but if no one else is interested then I guess I'd be willing to. I'm not an extension developer, but I am pretty active on GitHub and would have no problem accepting Pull Requests and/or updating the metadata.

I am also the maintainer of the AUR package of this extension and would love to get it updated for 3.20.

So I'm opening this issue as a place to have this discussion properly. Don't take offense to the idea, we just really like this extension, and I, for one, would like to see it updated.

What I can say, it's free software, so everyone is welcome to fork it. In recent days I'm a bit out of time. In the past, official release of this extension was in same way connected with Fedora final release. And maybe I wasn't aware of that someone is waiting for official release or that it's out there the AUR package.

Maybe us Arch users are just an impatient bunch.

The AUR package is just something I threw together a while back in my spare time. I'm not very experienced in packaging things, and it's had a few hiccups before. I made it because I like things being installed system-wide (for all users of a machine), but did't want to manually place the files on my filesystem. I know there's others out there who feel the same, so an AUR package seemed to be a good way to "give back" to the community.

The discussion on #24 wasn't about the AUR package though, they may not even know it exists. I think the general desire was just to have the GitHub Master and/or extensions.gnome.org copies updated. Technically, Gnome releases do come out in March even if the new Fedora release won't be out until June.

Recently, the only updates to this repository have been simple metadata updates. We weren't sure if that meant that maybe you just weren't interested in maintaining it anymore. I just thought I'd start a proper discussion about it before anyone else said "maybe we should fork this".

I'd rather not fork a project just for the sake of forking it. Thanks for clearing up your intended release schedule.

Your situation is understandable, we all run short on time now and again.

The offer still stands if you'd like an extra hand in maintaining things.

Extension is ready for Gnome 3.22. I hope Arch users will be happy of that.
