Can't escape Activities overlay

When pressing the super key to bring up the activities overlay, you cannot escape the overview rendering the system un-usable. I couldn't identify the conflicting extension if this is a compatability issue.

I had a similar problem, solved by removing the appfolders management extension. But, how is that a bug with multi-monitors?

I had the same damn issue, it just glitches out and logging out seems to get me out of that but when i click it again, it just bugs out. Sometimes I can disable all extensions and it only sometimes fixes it, but most of the time it just stays bugged out. I might switch to KDE in the meantime, we'll see. I'm on the latest current release of Manjaro Gnome at the time of writing this comment.

Edited: Gotta point out it makes the entire desktop unusable and I can't do anything, I can't just escape into a TTY and back to try and fix it, the only way to use the computer is either via an empty TTY or just logged out and logged back in.

I had this problem several times after upgrading to Ubuntu 21.04 hirsute.

But, how is that a bug with multi-monitors?

Well, after disabling the multi-monitors-extension, I never experienced the issue again. Tried re-enabling it and shortly after the Activities overlay got stuck again. Disabled the extension again and never experienced it since. That seems a strong hint that multi-monitors is at least part of the issue.

Since it started to appear after my upgrading to hirsute, it may have been introduced with the new version (hirsute has 23-1, groovy had 20-1). Another thing may be that hirsute runs the Wayland compositor by default. I could try and check if it appears with good old X, too.

I could now confirm that the problem is not related to Wayland. It happens with X all the same.
