Make Hidden Folders actually Hidden

Hidden folders (folders with preceding periods ".") are not hidden on the desktop (with desktopfolder), even when they are properly hidden in my system file explorer. (my OCD acting up + scared of deleting something important) Running on Elementary OS 5.1.7 with Desktop Folder 1.1.3 Would love the feature to toggle showing hidden files/folders or have it synced with the system file explorer. (please let me know if im missing anything obvious)
