speakeasy alternative

It looks like the project has been abandonned as of today. Looking at the issues which are still open, I am wondering if it is still safe to use speakasy actually (I'm writing this in October 2018)? If not, is there any alternatives for node.js that you would recommend?

I'm currently using otplib. It works for Node.js, browsers and even for React Native (with some dirty hacks).
