[3] Message labeled with a colour has no visual indicator of the colour

Open adamkiss opened this issue 1 month ago • 5 comments

Describe the bug Marking message applies the label (available to filter), but does not change anything visual about the message itself - no background change like in 2 (which was great), not even some coloured label next to file, or something.

Versions Ray3-beta.18

PHP version: 8.4.2

To Reproduce ray('test')->red();

Expected behavior Glowingly red message

@adamkiss Thanks for the suggestion. With Ray 3's multi theme capabilities (more themes coming soon) this might be a bit harder to implement, but we'll look at it

So if I understand correctly: when filtering, you want the messages to have a more visual distinct styling (background color, more prominent color/label indication, ...)

I do agree the dot on the left is pretty subtle. What change to the message styling would make it work best for you, you think?

@freekmurze

Huh, I actually misremembered - v2 only showed dot and time coloured with the label colour, the full background was a hover-only thing. v3 does only the dot

It was only the ray()->exception() call that colours the background, and I completely forgotten about that

@freekmurze @DriesH The dots are probably fine, though the time as well was slightly better, IMO. The problem is if you have the new compact view turned on (which I turned on immediately), you don't see the dots:

But I also realised that a combination of (color, label) actually shows in the compact view, so it's probably fine? Colouring the time would be better tho :)

Thanks for the examples! Removing the dots in the compact view was a no brainer at the time (imo) to save some space, but now that I look at it, I am removing some crucial information by doing so.

I'll try some different layouts next week and let you know!

@DriesH Maybe something like • file.php45 hh.mm.ss at the bottom?
