Altimeter setting not changing

Open leecollings opened this issue 1 year ago • 8 comments

Hello Bill,

I'll try and provide as much information as I can, but please let me know if there's anything else you require to help.

When using v3.08 (in both XP11 and XP12), the altimeter setting seems to be stuck on standard (i.e. either 29.92 or 1013).

When changing the setting within XP itself, the value on the LED screen does not change. However, it will still switch between the two units of measurement, the values just don't change themselves.

I'd be very grateful if you could look at this, as I can't seem to find anyone else reporting the same issue, which worries me a bit.

Like I said, I'm happy to help if I can, or provide more info if you need it.

Thank you!

Only your XP12 Log found your radio panel. I have not heard of this but think some else is forcing the altimeter setting so you can not change it. I would try with only the Xsaitekpanels plugin and then see if you can change it. If you are using the default Resources/plugins/Xsaitekpanels/xsaitekpanels.ini that your Log.txt is showing then the radio panel should be able to change it.

Hi there,

Thanks for the response. I know for a fact that it's being picked up in both software, and works exactly the same in each.

I can also confirm that with just this one plugin running, the behaviour is the same.

I tried to find an easy way to download the older software, but all I could find was links to 3.08. Is there a way to download the old version? I did look on this project, but there haven't been any 'releases' as such, which would have helped.

Where can I find the older version and I'll give that a try and see if that still works as it did before (I used to use the older version last year and it worked perfectly)

As I now only fly in VR I do not use my panels and have them stored away. I got the radio panel out and tested a fresh copy of Xsaitekpanels 3.08 with a clean copy of X-Plane 12.07r1 only having Xsaitekpanels installed and on Windows and Linux I do not see your issue. Look on x-plane.org for the oldest version available which is 2.81 but has only been tested on X-Plane 11.55r2.

That's really frustrating that you can't replicate it, because it's definitely an issue here. I've just tested it again with just the xsaitekpanel plugin loaded.

I'll see how I get on with the older version and will let you know if that shows anything different.

Hi there,

The older 2.81 version works perfectly fine and the altimeter reading on the panel does change when adjusting the setting in the aircraft. Some other things I noticed were that when using v3.08, on initial load up both rows of screens display COM1 and COM2, and not the selection of the knobs (unlike the old version).

Also with v3.08 the top row ACT/STBY switch works as expected, but in the bottom row when switched to XPDR mode, the switch button cycles through the transponder modes in the aircraft, but the display doesn't change.

So from this, it looks like the entire bottom row of LCDs are frozen and stuck... except for the squawk values.. which DO change.

It's greatly confusing I admit, but if I'm the only person then don't worry about it. I'll continue to use the older version if that works.

Thanks for your time anyway.

I am having the same issue with 3.08 and 3.09. I went back to 2.81 and all worked perfectly. On my panels it works, but it will not change the pressure in any aircraft. i also did a complete wipe and reinstall.

Update: 3/4/24....on upper display works fine, lower doesn't. I can at least use this now, by changing my habit.

Please advise if you would like supplemental info.

I am also seeing this issue with XP12 and 3.08. the altimeter on the top set of numbers works fine, but the second row does not change from 1013. I am sure its a small issue, but it would be great to get it working again, even if it was reversed as I normally use the first row as Com 1 at almost all of the time. Thanks

I have since found that the lower radio screen will change the setting displayed when using the Fn key, But the aircraft Altimeter does not change with it. I think the second screen has been linked to a second Altimeter, maybe the copilots altimeter or similar. Could this be the problem? And what would we/I need to change to make the bottom radio change the primary Altimeter?

Thankyou again.

Bill, any chance of addressing on next update?
