How well does the bifrost bridge work? The official one isn't running currently, is it?

I am curious if it would be possible to revisit this. bifrost is quite a usable bridge that is very actively developed. XMPP seems to be a major outlier when looking at the bridges offered. Even just the basic xmpp.js backend would be welcomed though if possible to get the libpurple backend working that would open up the gates to so many other services.

Second this. It would be nice to be able to bridge matrix and XMPP rooms, since some people still prefer to use XMPP.

It's worth mentioning that this would bring Microsoft Teams support to Matrix as with bifrost it's possible to use the MS Teams plugin for libpurple

@spantaleev what's stopping this from being added? Any technical difficulties or just lack of interest? Are PR's welcome?

I'd say lack of interest by anyone in the community to work on it.

PRs are definitely welcome! We have many many bridge roles you can use as a template and get inspired by.
