Description

In the dev docs, we had once said:

I'm not sure if something changed, but lately I must pip install . before pip install -e . will work.

How to Reproduce

1. Create a clean env
2. build from source with pip install -e .
3. try from jdaviz import Imviz

I get:

ImportError: cannot import name 'Imviz' from 'jdaviz' (unknown location)

Expected behavior

The package should be available.
