ActivityPub support?
Are there plans for adding activitypub support?
I'm not a maintainer, but I doubt federation will properly happen under spacebar, and if it did, it'd likely use polyproto, due to it being made for discord like stuff, though no guarantees on anything,
Why polyproto? Activitypub has millions of users and would make spacebar a better hub of information since people would be able to make their server indexed by google. This would especially be helpful for open source projects that want to have chatrooms and also for when spacebar gets discord like forum channels
Maddy was looking to implement it but not much came from it, there's a branch for it though iirc. Imo it's also not entirely in the scope of the project.

The goal of the project has always been about creating a re-implementation of discord also, activitypub is outside that scope.

Activitypub just isn't meant for discord like apps, and the project that'll likely superseded spacebar is using it. It'd be neat if Activitypub was somehow made into the federation protical, I just don't find it to be very likely, anyhow spacebar isn't a very active project anymore, there's a few people who sometimes make commits, but that's really it. If you'd like to get spacebar working better, you may do so, and I'm sure everyone would really like that, but federation is complicated and whatnot
Which project superseding spacebar is using activitypub?
