Open Source Mobile OS support? [Ubuntu Touch, Sailfish OS, LuneOS, etc.]

Open Qiangong2 opened this issue 4 years ago • 5 comments

Are there any plans to support mobile operating systems such as Ubuntu Touch, PostmarketOS and Sailfish OS?

I feel like Fosscord could help bring a lot more users to each platform if they were supported.

If they are capable of running x64, x86, arm linux software they should be able to run fosscord just fine because it is screen size responsive. Not yet because the client is not released but in the future.

android is an open source mobile OS, but aside that i'd have no idea, but we could look into it if we can get a way to run said OSses

Android isn't really open source (at least the version most manufacturers use).

As for software, postmarketos can run linux apps directly, but others require apps. All of the operating systems I listed can run on the Pinephone, so if you have one, that would work for all.

I dont think any of us have a pinephone.

Well, as far as sailfish os goes, there is an emulator included with the sdk.
