Game Crash upon setting high render distance
Description of Issue
Loading render distances Higher than 32 Chunks (Tested specifically 48 and 64 chunks), causes the game crash with error code -1073740791 or -1073741819.
PC Specs in case they are relevant:
AMD Ryzen 5-7600X AMD Radeon RX 7600 32GB DDR5-6000 (EXPO is enabled) Windows 11 Pro x64 under a 240GB SATA6Gbps SSD
Steps to Reproduce
-
Just in case this is relevant, set the RAM allocation to 8GB (all other Java arguments should be default)
-
Graphics are set to Fabulous, all Quality and Performance settings are turned on (except for the ones which can't due to the Fabulous Graphics setting); Mipmap type trilinear, Mipmap levels maximum, Anisotropic Filtering set to 16, Distortion & FOV effects both 100%. Chunk updates @ 1 and Chunk Builder set to Threaded. Fancy fog, all details enabled. Antialiasing was also tested at its max setting w/Fabulous graphics disabled, and did not seem to affect what occurs.
OptiFine Version
1.20.1 HD U J1 pre15 (Earlier pre-releases also seemed to be affected, dating back to pre1 & 2)
Installation Method
Standalone installer.
Log Files/Crash Reports
Attached. Let me know if it's not opening.
F3 Debug Screenshot
This is not 100% possible to do because the game crashes instantly upon setting a high render distance.
Prior Testing
-
This cannot really be replicated in an un-modded setting since the max setting in Vanilla is 32 chunks. This works fine under OptiFine.
-
Setting a render distance higher than 32 has been tested with Fabulous Graphics disabled and instead Anti-Aliasing enabled, and also causes the game to crash; so fabulous graphics can be ruled out in this case.
Additional Information
Crash in GL15.glMapBuffer(), either out of memory or bug in graphics driver.
