[1.20 Crash] Glowing entities cause flickering items/blocks which can crash the game
Description of Issue
Block/item models like chests/beds/bells/etc become a mess of flickering pixels from certain angles when an entity with the glowing effect is on screen. This can ended up crashing the game with successive flickers, however the crash only freezes the screen, and therefore there is no crashlog.

Running standalone or with Forge? Other mods installed? Specific steps to reproduce it? Crash log for the crashes?
Standalone. No other mods installed. It seems to have stopped happening when not in multiplayer. The other player had the glowing effect, and the crash only happened when near them. The visual block/entity bug happens everywhere. When I check the crash report folder after, there is no report. The game doesn't reach the crash screen when it happens, it just lags massively until just stopping, forcing a game close with task manager. When reopening the launcher afterward it doesn't show "game has crashed".
Updated the report to calrify that this seems to happen when another player is in the game and has the glowing effect. Their held items will flicker which causes the crash, and this seems to be the cause of the rainbow flickering on other blocks.
Hoping this gets fixed. To clarify, this happens with glowing entities in general.
I've come up with the same issue today, and it seems to also happen after switching to a new window. Instead of just glowing entities, it seems to be anything that produces light. Also running standalone, no mods, and no crashlog.
What's your graphics card? Are you using a resource pack? Are your graphics drivers updated?
I am also having this exact issue on multiplayer servers. When a glowing entity comes into my field of vision, all objects such as: item frames, chests, bells, item frames, signs, and hanging signs, start to glitch exactly how it is displayed in the images of this report.
What graphics card am I using? Intel(R) HD Graphics 530 Are you using a resource pack? No. Even when I don't currently have a resource pack enabled, it glitches and then crashes. Are your graphics drivers updated? Unsure
Running standalone or with Forge? Completely standalone. I don't run it with forge Other mods installed? None. I have none installed Crash log for the crashes? No crash logs appear. I've been crashing for about a month, as that is when I started playing the multiplayer server.
Specific steps to reproduce it?
- Use optifine 1.20.1 and log into a multiplayer server.
- Have a glowing entity, e.g. a player, in front of you, or at least showing up on your screen.
- Make sure to have either signs, chests, bells or item frames or similar entities in your field of vision as well.
- It should start to go static and eventually freeze.
I have discussed this with the owner and the staff members on the server this is occurring on, and they concluded it was not a server issue.
If needed please respond and I can try to replicate the issue and send a video of it. If you can think of any possible solutions please tell me.
Still after 3 weeks it is still happening... And its worse. It is much more sensitive. After smth like 2 seconds of logging in after crashing once, i crashed again cuz the glowing entity is still there on my screen. It used to crash after maybe 10 seconds of the glitching on my screen. Please if someone finds a fix for this, let me know, optifine Is amazing to use I dont want to have to find an alternative to prevent this minor issue.
