[Beta] Jittery textures on big coords for beta 1.7.3 optifine

Open Fixer-007 opened this issue 7 years ago • 10 comments

There is a community, that still loves, remembers and plays Minecraft Beta 1.7.3 with OptiFine_1_7_3_HD_G.

Sadly, it has a bug that during movement causes texture jitter progressively worse somewhere past x/z 30 000 coordinate, at 100 000 it is completely unusable. It seems it was fixed in some future version not far from beta and maybe can be backported back into OptiFine_1_7_3_HD_G?

Beta community will be happy to see this fixed and released somewhere ;) Thanks for your work.

Here is a demo: jitter

OptiFine Beta 1.7.3 was released in 2011, this is 7 years ago. Not sure if it can even be compiled/reobfuscated correctly.

I am using optifine for 1.7.3 Beta without issues (i can't get bettergrass to work but that's it), but I am not using a texturepack.

Radeon X800 GTO was released 13 years ago (2005): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radeon_X800_Series This may be a driver or GPU problem.

That is my current videocard, I've also had the same issue on newer AMD HD6870, released in 2011, if I catch up with beta players with those problems again, will try to ask what hardware they have.

Found exact Optifine version with this bug fixed! OptiFine 1.1_HD_C (fixed flickering paintings, vines and other textures!) (08.02.2012) for MC 1.1, previous optifine version (OptiFine_1.1_HD_B2) was last one with this bug.

This is a small bugfix, it could be ported to Beta 1.7.3 if it can still be reobfuscated. HD_1_1_B2 -> HD_1_1_C

I know this is old, but is there any chance you could explain what is causing this issue? I'm wondering if maybe it's possible to fix without porting the entire mod.

If anyone is interested, a fix was just made by historian from Modification Station.

Version 1.1 from their discord that fixes crash with advanced opengl:

Optifine HD MT G2 itself can be downloaded from OptiFine History topic (adfly link works, but mirror one is not): https://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/mapping-and-modding-java-edition/minecraft-mods/1286605-b1-4-1-9-optifine-history
