Randomly stops recording logs even though it shows "recording.."

Unfortunately it seems this keeps happening to me. One time I discovered it wasn't logged in and so I made sure it logged in on startup, and I thought that fixed the issue but it still persists.

I notice that in the logger window it didnt even say "waiting for new messages..".

It did show logged in, but nothing at all in the history window - not even the previous messages it logged while it was working.

I pressed logout then login and now it's working again.

Any ideas for troubleshooting?
