High Speed Rail Mode

This may be a far fetched dream feature, but this idea popped into my head. It would be really cool if Soundscape would have a High Speed Rail mode in addition to the standard Pedestrian and Vehicle modes. In this mode, when traveling at over 200 km/h, all the callouts and beacon should work differently. Rather than announcing POIs and landmarks, it should announce town names. Also, there should be a new search filter called Towns and Cities so that you could set a marker or beacon on a particular town. This would be useful in High Speed Rail mode when you arrive at the town or city. In that case, town markers should be in a separate page from the regular markers, but it should also be in the "Markers & Routes" section. The "Current Location" button should mark the current town you're in and save it to "Town Markers." Also, the Hear My Surroundings buttons like Around Me and Ahead of Me should mention the towns around you or ahead of you, as well as the distance to each town. As for the "Nearby Markers" button, it should mention the town markers instead of the regular markers. There might be more details that I can't think of right now; it's just a rough idea. Thanks.

It's a reasonable idea. It reminds me of an earlier idea I had for a cycling mode feature (for users with enough residual vision to ride a bike) with a level of detail somewhere between the walking and vehicular modes. But as you accurately noted, a first step for these kind of callouts are the city/town identifiers under discussion in #173.
