Determine if `mtools` is needed on non-Arch OSes

It was added to the dependency list in phil-opp/blog_os#213 because it was needed on arch. I don't know if it's required for ubuntu/debian systems.

I'd like to hear from folks on Debian/Ubuntu and Gentoo to know if they can boot SOS without mtools.

@twisted-pear says that he can build an ISO fine without mtools on Gentoo; but I am not sure if this is with the latest version of grub-mkrescue for Gentoo.

It's possible all distros now require mtools as of a recent update to Grub?
