Simple unsubscribe

Open maximka1812 opened this issue 11 years ago • 9 comments

Simple unsubscribe function is required if you use Pommo to regularly inform many people who do not register themself in Pommo.

I mean here link like www.mysite,com/pommo/[email protected]#7EBA78BD8913

For each member imported or made using manual input special random code will be generated. So pommo_subscribers table will have this text field for each user.

Upon firing www.mysite.com/pommo/[email protected]#7EBA78BD8913 script will query table for such code and email and if such record is present it'll change the status.

If you could also add special simple check box in mail compose page so unsubscribe footer will be automatically added to mail it'll be fantastic.

Hello,

There is currently a way to include an unsubscribe link into your mailing. You can do it by adding a link to this location: [[!unsubscribe]], so something like this: Click here.

You can see it being use in the default template that comes shipped with poMMo.

Is the functionality you need different?

Ouch, I did not used default template :-)

I searched all info I could find and found only option to place link to user login page that is not that I want.

Do you have some documentation about this feature?

I'll check and let you know.

Also small addition, looking at database it still seems like unsubscribe have email or user name as parameter to unsubscribe. Idea of my proposal was to use unique code so other people could not ruin all by unsubscribing ones they don't like ot by automated script.

Hello,

There is no documentation for this. I will add it.

I will take a look at this. It would be a very bad idea to let anyone unsubscribe other people just by typing their e-mail address.

Also can you look at option to disable all mail recepients interaction (login, registering, forms) except unsubscribe.

Can you please open a new ticket with that request and mention why you think that would be a good idea?

Thanks, Adrian

I mentioned it here because it is very closely related, as newsletter most of the time do not need any user actions except unsubscribe.

Plus the less possible entry points and interface screens - the less possible security holes.

Any progress with it?

Hello @tester13,

I haven't had time to work on this and it is not one of my priorities right now. This may take a while unless someone else takes it over.
