Spell check

Open Luykenaar opened this issue 2 years ago • 2 comments

Tangram version 1.4.0

Linux distribution Ubuntu MATE 21.10

Could someone please tell me how (where?) I can disable spell check? I'm using a webmail based email client (ProtonMail) and use to write mails in French, German, English and Dutch, which turns out to be tricky with the spelling checker on.

Thank you for your help!

I want to add that this setting is present in the full version of the browser. Is there a way to return it? She would help us a lot. Thanks for your work!

I'm trying to understand this:

  • tangram uses WebKitGTK
  • which in turn uses GtkSpell
  • that uses in turn enchant
    • whether enchant supports different languages can be tested using the command enchant-2 if installed
  • which uses then aspell, hspell, hunspell
    • for each off can be different languages installed and configured

tangram seems to try to use all languages found by WebKitGTK if I read this correctly

I can use differnt languages by selecting them like enchant-2 -d <en|de|es|...> on the command line and the files for aspell and hspell are installed. But I couldn't get tangram to use a different language than my system language, yet.
