Weird sound issue

Open silkentrance opened this issue 5 years ago • 3 comments

I just stumbled over this great piece of art and tried some of the examples.

However, all I get is the weird sound but you cannot hear that in the attached second recording.

I am running this under Windows 10 1909. There is a Soundblaster X-Fi Extreme Audio. The system uses a 3rd gen Core I5-3570 @ 3.4..3.8GHz and 24GB of RAM.

Any ideas what the problem could be?

In the live session it's more or less a pumping distortion, sounding a lot like some saw wave that rises and then falls off again.

The recording sounds OK, just checked this on my Mac Book.

And here is a recording using my phone (example being used is blip_rhythm) and which displays the distortion I mentioned

I have the exact same issue.
I'm running Windows 10, and have a Soundblaster X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Champion soundcard.

same issue here, using:

  • Creative Technology Ltd. Sound Blaster Z with its own driver
  • Win 10 Pro 20H2 build 19042.1165
  • AMD Ryzen 7 5800X

Got the solution: in your sound blaster control software search for something like direct sound from origin, and enable it. it may also take some fiddeling around with windows sound devices, i also had to use another aux i/o port.

note: i did not need to configure soundblaster in sonic pi itsself
