Add world clock/multiple time zone support

Open baimafeima opened this issue 8 years ago • 4 comments

Operating System: Solus 1.2.1 Budgie version: Budgie 10.2.8

Many of us work with people from multiple time zones and a quick and easy display of multiple locations and their respective time zones is important. The best place to implement this is probably as a panel widget, and not as a raven widget. Intuitively, I would expect a clock to be visible in the panel and not in Raven. The amount of clicks necessary (exactly one) to display these time zones would probably be the same though.

In any case, a world clock should be part of the clock and not the calendar. Currently, GNOME throws both clock and calendar together. I think widgets work best when kept simple in their functionality and treated as separate modules.

I just want people to know that as I'm focused on building Budgie 11 itself, many of these requests for new Things will be completely ignored until I'm done, as it's no longer the right place for these requests. When I'm ready I'll start looking at these again. At some point the issue tracker in this repo will be disabled.

One year later, this still is actual. We still do not have ability to display clock of multiple time zones.

@Tokeiito umm - yes we do - just need to install a third-party applet (https://github.com/UbuntuBudgie/budgie-extras/tree/master/budgie-clockworks).

Remember everyone is free to contribute patches to the codebase for review. "One year later"... type statements are not helpful.

As ikey said - focus is v11 - again everyone is welcome to helpout in that effort as well.

Just add another "Clock" applet, and set it to timezone you want to. Place it anywhere in panel.
