I'm new to Linux. Downloaded the file and it showed up as an unknown file type. Is it unable to be used on Debian-based systems?

What file specifically are you talking about? Have you extracted the .zip file provided in Releases?

Hello all,

I just recently was given a semi old MacBook Air. The OS system say to 12.7.6. Trying to get Garrys Mod up and running. Read on steam where the old 32 bit wasn't compatible with the newest systems, so I followed the trail on steam saying to make it a 64 bit etc. Still wasn't running, so I found a YouTube video where it stated to come to this website and find the "Release" tab and with me being on Mac it said to find and download "GModCEFCodecFix-macOS-dmg" in which I found said file, BUT it was an .zip file not a dmg. So I was like ok, maybe this is it. Followed instructions opening that file even where it states the developer doesnt allow access or whatever, and let it do its said fixes for macOS. As it was running, the letters turned red and stating something about an error. I opened up Garrys Mod and ORIGINALLY before all of this, the screen would just be black for a few seconds and then close out, now since downloading this file. It acts like it wants to do something, then goes to a a screen with a big blue smiley face with the eyes X . X out like so and then closes itself out. Sorry for the long explanation. I just want to get Garrys Mod up and running! :( Appreciate any and all help to get Garrys mod on my Mac.

Drag GModPatchTool into the Applications Folder, then run it again. If you see any errors, please tell me what they are.

Did that prior to that screen recording. When I open uo the patch tool now it no longer tries to run anything. It gives me this message.

"Failed to create GModPatchTool.pid: read only file system (os error 30)

Also like to mention that I already have also gone into Garrys properties and went to beta and changed it to x84-64 - Chromium + 64-bit Binaries.

Hi again! Is your GMod installed on an external drive?

I am referring to the game, not our patcher executable.

Make sure you’re running GModPatchTool from your Applications folder, NOT the DMG. If you’re still getting the .pid error, try rebooting. If that doesn’t fix it, let us know
