Guideline: replace weasel words by concrete, clear, and specific texts

Open csarven opened this issue 5 years ago • 1 comments

Remove weasel words, as well as buzzwords, unsubstantiated, vague claims... from site content eg:

"This is a massive improvement to your privacy."

How massive? Compared to what? How was that measured? Who measured it? What's covered?

"The last login you'll ever need"

Perhaps we can tone down bold statements? Which decentralisation project or identifier/authn/z system doesn't make similar claims nowadays?

...

I don't have exact suggestions on how to improve the text right now. Favouring modest and friendly/approachable tones. It shouldn't feel like my life is incomplete without Solid or I must buy this new thing so I can reach my potential and be a good webizen.

Suggestion: "replace weasel words by concrete, clear, and specific texts about what Solid actually does (differently)"

re "suggestion", I meant the actual text to replace the current with (for PR). I think we're in agreement on the guideline.
