Loss of Mental Capacity support
Hi, I am interested in Solid. I am glad to see you have considered what should happen when someone dies. Also for children.
However, there are many other vulnerable people and awkward situations that need consideration. I appreciate it is early days, but even mention of some other examples would be helpful.
For example, in the UK we talk about someones Mental Capacity - their ability to make (possibly unwise) decisions and carry them out or have them carried out for them. This is very relevant if someone has a serious injury, an aquired brain injury, such as a stroke, or other impairment. Similarly dementia etc..
There are also those who have limited capacity for life, those with learning difficulties, for example.
Then there are the trusted people who help people in these situations. One example is Lasting Power of Attorney where someones financial affairs or their welfare decisions are handed over to someone else, e.g. if they have Dementia.
I don't expect any detail at this stage, but it would be good to see a mention of these matters and some hooks for more detail in the medium term future as part of a roadmap.
I used to be a SW developer, designer and tester. Now, I am just a potential Solid user. I am very encouraged by how Solid is developing and just want you to consider some extra scenarios that will be really helpful for people as it gains traction.
Thank you @MarkEDunn for raising these very important considerations. Do you have any examples of how to improve the website or do you think these questions are related to the standardisation work?
or both! :)
Maybe some of these considerations could be phrased into user stories at https://github.com/solid/user-stories ? I would be glad to add labels that could fit, or create new ones if needed, to make the stories more discoverable for others who want to embed these considerations in their work, be that specifications, libraries, applications or services.
I'm unsure how to capture these (very valid) thoughts elsewhere in the current Solid organization =/
Hi Arne and Mitzi,
I will give your suggestions some thought. I will draft one or more user stories to help take this concern forward. I am not sure how quickly I’ll manage that.
I really appreciate your interest.

Hi Arne and Mitzi,
I have now drafted 8 user stories on themes related loss of mental capacity support.
I would be happy to put them into user stories as suggested below. However, I would be interested in some preliminary sanity checking of them before doing that.
Please let me know if you are willing to give my draft user stories a quick review before they are formally put in as user stories.
I ask this for two reasons.
I have never actively used or created user stories, so there may be ways of writing them which I have missed out on.
I can get carried away by my own ideas and I would like to engage in some preliminary discussion to avoid wasting the time of people who are working on a valuable project.
Regards
Mark Dunn

Hi @MarkEDunn,
Thank you for taking the time to draft user stories.
Please do feel free to go ahead and submit each user story as a separate issue.
The issues have a function of being able to discuss them and give input, this is a great way to have a preliminary discussion. If there are evolutions of the user story that emerge from the conversation it is easy to edit the issue.
No worries about making mistakes, this is how we all learn and every perspective has valuable input. The more interesting element is the content of the user story rather than the format.
Your input is very welcome!
Mitzi
